[D4] Voorste draagarmen vervangen

Ik heb een Disco uit 2008 met inmiddels 220k km.
Ik hoor een klapperend geluid als ik rem of over een verkeersdrempel rij. Ik heb het vermoeden dat dit komt door speling op de rubbers in de draagarmen. Aangezien ik niet over een hydraulische pers beschik en het aantal werkuren wil besparen, wil ik de draagarmen vervangen. Zijn er alternatieve merken (dus niet LR) die beter zijn?

Let op: het is een gezinswagen dus in dit geval komt beter op de eerste plaats en goedkoper op de tweede plaats. Maar zin om naar de lokale LR stealer te gaan heb ik niet echt.

Zijn er bijzonderheden waar ik op moet letten? Heeft iemand een (de-)montage instructie?

al bij de bekende engelse adressen gekeken of ze de armen in OEM kwaliteit hebben en wat ze dan kosten , zelfs genuine is daar vaak goedkoper dan hier bij de dealer

OK, first the parts, well the Lower Draag Arm from Paddocks will cost you €222,53 inc BTW excluding verzendkosten. From the Dealer is € 260,84 inc BTW but with discount for LRCH membership that could come down to €234,76 so it sort of proves that we are not always Stealers

Now to the instructions, it's simple, remove the 2 bolts that hold the draagarm to the chassis, I would mark the position of the eccentric washers as you are going to need this later, remove the bolt that holds the lower shock absorber, remove the nut that holds the aandrijf ass to the hub and push the aandrijf ass out of the huib, you need to do this as Land Rover put the lowere fussee kogel too close to the aandrijfass to get it out, on the Range Rover Sport this is not necessary, remove the nut that holds the fusse kogel to the fussee and remove the kogel, now there is a special ball joint splitter for this but it's crap, so you can hit the bottom of the fussee with a 1,5kg hammer to loosen off the kogel.

Now put in the new draagarm into the fusee first, put the aandrijf ass back into the hub, put the bolts and eccenteric washers back into exactly the same position as they were and attach the fussee kogel, replace the lower shock absorber bolt now tighten the hub nut to the correct torque ... you may need a slightly heavy duty torque wrench (up to 350Nm) for this and if you don't you will need a new wiel lager.

Oh now the interesting part of this, is that the 2 bolts that hold the draagarm to the chassis normally rust solid in the hydrabushes so you have to cut them off, this is an especially entertaining game as there is zero space to get in with anything sensible but I find that using an electric heavy duty saw with 0,5m toughened blade works a treat

Now connect the Disco to SDD, set the suspension in uitlijn mode and do the uiutlijnen after uitlijnen put the suspension back into normal mode. You musty do this otherwise the system will not recognise the new geometry of the suspension and you will get a dashboard that looks like a christmas tree as you turn into your first corner.

Should take you a couple of hours.

dat met die uitlijnstand van de vering.... hoe doet een bandencentrum dat als je je auto daar brengt voor nieuwe banden en uitlijnen? of is dat weer een tructje om de klant te verplichten bij de dealer te gaan?

Yes of course Roger, we at Land Rover like to trick customers into spending unnecessary money and love to rob our customers blind, that's why people call us Stealers. How else do you account for us being in business for 66 Years

... actually most tyre fitting places only do Spooring and most vehicles these days only allow you to do spooring too. As I spend several hours per week doing uitlijning for the Lease Company upstairs I have a reasonable idea what most modern vehicles allow you to adjust.

Now with Discovery 3 you can adjust, Camber, Castor, and Toe-in, Toe-Out on all 4 wheels and when you do the draagarms you affect all 3 hence you have to put the vehicle into uitlijn mode as this locks the suspension at the correct height to do this.

Now this is the instructions for information, but I guess you just think I'm lying to make a bit of cash for the Stealer

trucjes om de klant bij de dealer te houden is niks waar Landrover alleenrecht op heeft, dat probeert elk merk op verschillende manieren, waaronder diverse diagnoseapparaatrestricties

That's per arm? How much would this set me back (approx) incl labour? Would you recommend to change the fuseekogel at the same time?

Fuseekogel is included on the new draagarm and yes that is the price per arm, labour would be about 2 Hours to do both but it would depend on if the bolts were free in the bushes, that could increase the time to 3 hours if you have to cut them out. Labour at the Dealerships is normally around the €100 per hour.

... what it does highlight however is that in some cases on the more modern vehicles sometimes the Dealer is actually as cheap if not cheaper than the independents as Land Rover is protecting it's own and keeps the costs of the parts low for several years until end of life.
