Hallo Allemaal,
Groetjes,
Robert en Bart

Re: Probleem startmotor Range Rover Classic
Morning Gentlemen,
... as you have the problem even after swapping starter motors then the problem seems not to be the starter motor itself.
Both the M45 and 3M100PE starter motors have built in solenoids which both pass the power to the motor and also throw the drive gear onto the flywheel.
Now the problem could be a bad contact on the end of the ignition barrel or more likely the starter motor relay is sticking. This is located on the bulkhead next to the washer bottle and is a rectangular metal box with four terminals and looks like this
The Part Number is 589665 a Genuine one will cost you £56.93, a Lucas one will cost you £27.04

Re: Probleem startmotor Range Rover Classic
Hallo Rob,
Groet,
Bart en Robert

Re: Probleem startmotor Range Rover Classic
Afternoon Gentlemen,
Best wishes for the New Year too.
... the Ignition Switch is separate from the barrel assembly so you would only need to change that , if that is the problem. You can see it if you remove the cowling round the steering column and it is easily accessible.
Now the one on your vehicle should be Part Number 579254 and has bullet type connectors, this was replaced by Part Number PRC3408 which has a Lucar block type connector but the switches themselves are basically the same.
Below is the circuit diagram from the Original Issue 1 of the Range Rover Workshop Manual which should be correct for your vehicle, later versions have some interesting changes
Number 62 is the Starter Motor, Number 50 is the Switch and Number 49 is the Relay, it's a simple circuit and you should be able to trace the fault.
