Voorstellen disco 3 & een vraag

Hoi allemaal,

Ik zal mezelf even voorstellen,
Ik ben Maarten, 19 jaar en heb nu bijna 2 jaar mijn rijbewijs. Wij (mijn ouders ) hebben in 2006 deze disco nieuw gekocht, maar ik rijd er ook vrij regelmatig in. Het is een 2.7 TDV6 HSE en ondertussen staat er 220000 op z'n klok. Tot en met eind 2013 heeft hij dienst gedaan als dagelijkse auto, maar heeft wel bijna altijd binnen gestaan. Sinds eind vorig jaar is het een bij-auto geworden door de aanschaf van een Volvo V60 PIH.

Alleen vandaag moest ie op voor de APK... Nu blijken ALLE remleidingen verrot en dienen vervangen te worden (verder was de auto helemaal in orde). De auto heeft ook steekproef gehad, dus het is dubbel en dwars bekeken.. Het schijnt dus een vrij dure ingreep te zijn, omdat het chassis los moet bij de auto!?
Heeft iemand hier ervaring mee (aangezien ik hoorde dat het blijkbaar een bekende kwaal is) en eventueel suggesties waar dit het beste gemaakt kan worden (zowel kwalitatief als prijstechnisch)?
Ik dacht dat het misschien handig is naar een specialist toe te stappen.

Rusty brake pipes are well known on the Discovery 3 and also the Range Rover Sport, the rust starts 2/3rds of the way down the left hand side of the vehicle just above the midden demper and then gets bad in all of the clips for the rear left and right calipers. The front section of the rear pipes (that is the section that goes from there to the back of the schutboard) never ruts and as most of that is hidden then you can't actually check it for APK either without removing the body. The only other part of the brake pipes that fail APK are the metal parts of the flexi hoses on both the front or the rear.

So with that said it is not necessary to remove the body to fix the problem what you need to do is cut the pipes about halfway down the left hand side in a staggered section fit 2 connecting blocks and run custom made copper pipes to the left and right calipers. I have done this several times both over in Holland for APK and now over here for MOT and it is perfectly acceptable, the front and rear flexi hoses can be done in-situ also.

If the garage tells you that they cannot do this or that the front section is rusted then I would want photographic evidence first before allowing any work to be carried out that involves removing the body. Out of interest removing AND replacing the body for access takes 6 hours in a well equipped workshop and is not as dramatic as it sounds, infact it's only 10 bolts, half a dozen connectors, some pipe work for the air co and heating systems and the flexi brake lines.

Hi Rob,

At first, thanks a lot for your advice! The car finally has APK for the next year..
Last week I have called two different garages, and the first one said the whole break pipes had to be repaired, so the body should be removed. This joke would be near 2000 euros...
The second garage said I had to come over, so they could take a look at the situation beneath the car. They confirmed that the beginning and the end of the break pipes were ok, so they only had to replace a big part instead of the whole break pipes. Offcourse we have choosed this option without a doubt:)
In total we have paid 480 euros for this surgery. (costs for APK included)
To be honest...2000 or 480 euros... is a big difference!
