Re: UItleg Schakelpoken.
Simple answer to this one.
You have your normal gear lever with 4 speeds and reverse with the Black Round Knob, this randomly selects gears in no particular order and gives you a good excuse to feel your passengers knee when trying to select a gear.
The Yellow Flat headed Knob is 2 Wheel Drive / 4 Wheel Drive Selection for High Gear. You push the knob down and assuming the gate on the front of the transfer box hasn't rusted solid it will engage the dog clutch in the transfer box and start turning the front propshaft to drive the front wheels. If you use this on the road then you will find that the steering will get very heavy and then there will be a bit of a bang and you can collect the bits of the transfer box or half shaft up later. To disengage 4 Wheel Drive move the Red Lever all the way back and then all the way forward and the Yellow Knob will pop back up (assuming the spring is fitted)
The Red Lever is to change from High Gear to Low Gear. So you depress the clutch, move the lever from all the way forward to all the way towards you and you are now in Low Range and 4 Wheel Drive, again do not use this on road (unless you are pulling a ridiculously heavy trailer up a straight hill) and flat out you will probably get up to 50kph with the engine trying to rip itself out of it's mountings. To go back to High 2 Wheel Drive you can depress the clutch and slot it back in by pushing forwards even when moving (but only slowly)
If you have another Black Knob next to the Red and Yellow ones, then you have an overdrive
this gives you an additional 4 gears but is only really used in 4th and basically gives you a 5th Gear for "Motorway Cruising", whatever that is. I used it a lot on my Series III Diesel when driving the 560kms from my house to work every week, it gave me a warm fuzzy feeling that I was saving fuel and reducing engine wear whilst saving the environment, I must add that I was doing a lot of drugs at the time too
Oh and if you mean the box under the passenger seat, it's for keeping all the crap you want to hide from the wife in.
Hope this Helps.

Re: UItleg Schakelpoken.

4e versnelling, overdrive in. handgas( primitieve cruise control) erop. Heel relaxed.
TS nog even kijken of je misschien ook vrij-loop naven hebt op je voor wielen.

.,. it's fantastic, with a small point to make, do not do this on the M1 on a Friday afternoon and nod off ... the Series will keep moving forwards whatever the traffic jam in front of you is doing and it will continue for some miles until the sound of grating metal of soft skin Euro Boxes gently awakes you from your slumbers and you reqalise that you are now at the head of a 10 mile tail back and there is a little bit of chaos behind you
