The brandplatjes are a press fit, are always tight and in my opinion should not be filed out.
1mm on the rubber ring would be a huge amount, if they are not exactly correct in the correct groove then they get caught when being mounted, the sleeve to fit them MUST be used otherwise the chance of damage is great.

in the garage they didn't use a tool, the mechanic gave my friend some medium grease to put over the seal when placed in position so when mounting the injector, the seal would stay in place. can he still drive the car today? or could it be a big risk? (tomorrow he will pass his garage)
do you know where he can buy the tools or is it a land rover dealer item?
