Solex, dus Engels. Carburateur boer. Lijkt iets met lucht te maken.

de slang bevat koelvloeistof
Het blauwe pijpje zuig lucht aan
Maar ik weet nog steeds niet wat de functie er van is.

denk om je carb.tegen bevriezen te beschermen.... had vroeger wel eens last van een bevroren Pierburg in m'n Vulva.... met koud winters weer.... mudflap/kartonnetje deed hier wonderen.... dit zou dat wellicht tegen gaan

It's a Zenith (yes stamped Solex) Fully Automatic Starting Device (FASD) and was fitted to the Rover SD1.

If you look under the blue cover furthest away from the carb then you will see a number which indicates which one it is

Now basically it uses a bi metallic strip to gauge the temperature of the coolant and adjusts the mixture of the carb using a valve that is controlled by an electronic control box to control flow of fuel into the carb. So what it is is a fully automatic choke and fuel delivery monitoring device.

SU had basically the same device called Automatic Enrichment Device, I have 19 pages of technical publication which I could scan and post if you are really that interested.
