Defender 110, 1992, 2,8 HS International: knipperlicht

Als ik een karretje of fietsendrager achter mijn defender heb, knippert er in het dashboard een extra lampje mee als ik het knipperlicht aanzet. Nu deed dat extra lampje bij links-af het al een tijdje niet, vandaag deed rechtsaf het ook niet meer. En toen opeens weer wel en deed linksaf het ook weer, tot beide het niet meer deden! De knipperlichten op de fietsendrager doen het wel. Het probleem is dus dat extra lampje wat dan wel, dan niet meeknippert in het dashboard. Dat lampje zelf is goed. Waar kan de fout zitten?

... now the bike carrier lights work ... have you checked that all of the other indicator lights still work (like the front ones) ?

The system on you "200Tdi Defender " is a simple one that relies on the extra load of the trailer socket to give an indication that something is connected.

So the Trailer Warning light in the instrument pack is connected via a Light Green/Purple wire directly to the Flasher Unit, Part Number PRC8876, which is located in the fuse box in front of the gear lever.

It's easy to find as it looks like this

Give it a wiggle and check that the connections are all OK.

Now a new one from Land Rover would cost you € 37,67 inc BTW but you can get one from Budget which is a Bearmach item for € 23,86 inc BTW or if you are really brave then Paddocks will sell you one in a blue box for € 5.34 inc BTW.
