D3 BJR2005 tdv6 2.7 filter automaatbak vervangen
Is het vervangen van het filter een grote klus of makkelijk zelf te doen? De vorige eigenaar
heeft wel de olie ververst en niet het filter, zeker een grote kostenpost?

... ooh one of my favourite jobs
Well you are going to need a bridge or be a bit creative.
- remove the gearbox cross member
- scratch head and ask why the left hand bolts cannot be removed when the exhaust is in the way
- continue to scratch head wondering why the inner nut on the right hand side is inaccessable
- lower the box down as far as it will go.
- drain the fluid
- jack the box up as high as it will go
- undo all 21 M6 x 31.5mm Torx T30 bolts including the 5 that are inaccessible above the front cross member that hold the filter to the bottom of the box
- wipe up the 1/2 litre of oil that is now all over you that fell out after you lowered the rear of the filter.
- now scratch your head trying to work out why the filter will not come out
- cut the filter feed pie with an air saw
- remove the filter
- remove the multi plug on the right hand side of the gearbox
- pull down the white tag on the bottom of the gearbox brain to release the multiplug sleeve
- withdraw the sleeve
- get a bigger screwdriver to remove the sleeve
- swear at the sleeve, have a fag and a cup of coffee while the sleeve laughs at you
- use a large pry bar to remove sleeve
- add TZV500010 (sleeve) to the list of parts you now need
- undo the 7 M6 x 59mm Torx T30 and 4 M6 x 30 Torx T30 bolts that hold the brain into the gear box
- carefully lower the brain out
- wipe up another 1/2 litre of oil that is all over you
- place the brain in the new filter LR007474
- lift the brain and filter into place remembering that to get it out you cut off the feed pipe but now can't
- remove the filter and brain and now put 2 of the M6 x 59mm T30 screws into the front holes of the brain and re-try getting it into position
- dislocate your right wrist and put it under the cross member and try and catch a couple of threads on the bolts
- wipe another 1/2 litre of oil that is all over you
- fit the remaining 5 M6 x 59mm Torx T30 bolts and the 4 M6 x 30 T30 bolts to the brain
- notice that the selector mechanism is not located in the slider on the left hand side of the brain
- repeat the previous 10 steps making sure that the mechanism is engaged correctly
- place the new sleeve in the hole and latch the white tag
- remove the sleeve, turn 180 degrees and repeat
- fit the multiplug
- fit the 21 M6 x 31.5mm Torx T30 bolts
- replace gearbox cross member
- insert left hand bolts from front to rear making next time easier
- remove the fill plug on the right hand side
- find sticking plaster to cover deep gash on knuckles where they bounced off cross member
- fill with 3.5 to 4 litres of TYK500050 transmission fluid remembering not to spill any as it is € 36,66 per litre
- continue to fill until approximately €10,00 of fluid runs from the hole
- replace the fill plug
- start the engine and run the selector through P - R - N - D
- remember to do that again but this time with the brake on
- check the temperature of the transmission fluid with SDD
- when between 30c - 50c add another €100,00 of transmission fluid
- allow €10,00 of fluid to run out of the hole
- refit fill plug
It's quite simple really and should take no more than 2.2Hrs

Grappig!

... unless you have had the personal experience of "The filter change from Hell" then you really couldn't make this stuff up
I have lost count of the number of times I have now done this job and it still is the most stupid job that I have ever experienced on a Land Rover and could have been made so much easier by moving certain components a maximum of 10mm.
