The RRS is a pretty good vehicle considering that it is now 9 years old, 200k is not a huge amount and many of the older ones I look after are well in excess of that. So things to look for:
I always say it and Roger always disagrees but Service History is the thing I always look at first. The timing belts, there are two, should have been done at 168k, if they haven't then they must be done and allow 4 Hours Labour for it.
The air suspension is reasonably reliable however we are starting to see a number of compressor failures on the older models. The whole compressor assembly has now been replaced by a better version from AMK rather than Hitachi. On the subject of compressors the ANWB appear to use the compressor as a jacking point for the left hand rear wheel and this knackers the mounting which in turn makes the compressor very very noisy.
The rear upper tailgate switch fills with water which makes it inoperable but it's a relatively cheap thing to replace.
The heated rear window sometimes packs up but this is normally corrosion on the pins under the rear spoiler, again it's a simple fix.
Like the Discovery 3, the front lower draagarm hydra bushes deteriorate so that you get a knocking noise when you tap the brakes or go over dremples or a rough road.
Electronics are reasonably reliable with the exception of the wire that controls the central locking system/alarm which corrodes in the right hand front dorpel
The sunroof channels fore and aft block which results in the front carpets becoming wet, again it's a simple fix.
Tyre wear is interesting with the inner of the rears wearing faster than the outer so have a good look.
Stab-stang bushes wear, it knocks when you go round a corner.
Rear Diffs whine and are expensive to replace, Front Diff pinion oil seals leak and also whine.
If you get an import then it's possible it has Dynamic Response, these are hydraulic stab-stangs and they leak and are very very expensive.
EGR Kleppen fail but the updated versions seem to be more reliable, you can blank the EU3 versions no problem but you cannot blank the EU4 versions as it will ping off the Motor management lampje.
For Servicing then on the kennisbank I have loaded the Onderhoudscontroleformulier (see
http://lrch.nl/kennisbank/rangeroversport ) plus the Onderhoudsmenus which lists what is required. The prices were as at March 2012 but it gives you an idea.
Any other questions then just shout.
