Vrienden,

Weet iemand wat de eisen zijn om met een 12 persoons defender op de Nederlandse weg te mogen. Ik bedoel de eisen aan het voertuig want die van het rijbewijs (D+chauffeursdiploma en medische keuring etc) weet ik al. Heeft iemand ervaring met het invoeren van een 12 seater?

Pakweg max 2 maanden geleden kwam een soort gelijke vraag voorbij op de prik.
Even daar zoeken, ter extra informatie.
Kwam oa voorbij dat het voertuig vluchtluiken moet hebben.
De voorlopige conclusie aldaar, puur voertuigtechnies gezien , lees een defender,: vrijwel kansloos

Heb je al eens 12 personen in een 110 proberen te stoppen? Zelfs met jochies van de Scouting van 10-11 jaar oud is dat een vrijwel kansloze onderneming.

Wil je er speciaal een wagen voor gaan bouwen is alles mogelijk, maar dat zal behoorlijk in de papieren lopen.....

12 zitter is onder andere in de UK wel geleverd. 3 voorin, 3 in het midden, en dan de lange banken achterin inward facing, 3 personen aan iedere kant. Die lange banken zijn 120cm lang, en zouden dus drie zitplaatsen per stuk opleveren met 3x 40cm.

Je moet niet met 12 man naar Zuid-Europa willen rijden natuurlijk...

Of er ergens in Europa een goedkeuring is voor een 110 met 12 zitplaatsen op kenteken, geen idee.

... so in 1999 Heather collected her new Td5 110 CSW from Rostar in Purmerend. Her first words to the then Sales Manager were, and I quote "where the F**K are my three remaining seats?" The Sales Manager looked perplexed and then, in a condescending tone, explained in very small words that she would need a special driving licence to drive a Land Rover with 12 Seats as it would be a Bus. She then handed him her driving licence which is valid for every category except 'A' and if she wanted to she could legally drive a whole transporter full of 12 Seat 110's. He visible winced and apologised for the stupid Dutch Laws.

On our return back home I removed the centre seat complete with lap belt of my Td5 90 and installed it in H's 110 and the following weekend hand made 2 bench seats for the rear and installed the additional 2 belts on the factory fitted mountings for the bench seats. Our insurance company were informed it had 12 seats (which they recognised), the number of seats were never mentioned on the papers. It carried 12 people and went through 5 APK's in our ownership, was stopped by the police on a number of random checks with 12 people in it and was never questioned.

By the way, the European spec middle row seats are further back than the UK spec ones so a 3 seat bench doesn't fit and the 2 seat bench looks stupid.

All of her Land Rovers have been 12 seaters (you try and get 5 children, a couple of their friends, Parents-in-law and the pair of us in a 90) , my 88s and 90 were always referred to as the stupid little hatchback.

Unfortunately in the UK you cannot buy the 12 Seat version anymore either.

The legal rules are grey and a nightmare and the RDW, police, insurance companys probably all disagree
