Defender start niet

Hallo Allemaal,

Ik was vandaag van plan om wat grof vuil naar de milieustraat te brengen, toen ik alles buiten had klaar gezet, en mijn defender wilde voorrijden, bleek hij niet te willen starten, gloeien ging goed, maar daarna starten was niet meer dan een "klik-achtig geluid"

wat zou hier de oorzaak van kunnen zijn?

hij had al enige dagen stil gestaan vandaar dat ik aan de accu denk.
maar...
ik heb al geprobeerd te starten met startkabels (2x met 2 verschillende auto's)
ik heb een andere accu overgezet.

ik ben dus bang dat de start motor defect is, kan dit zo in één keer? van de ene dag perfect starten naar totaal niks meer doen?

So Jasper, on the 2.5NA there are two types of starter motor (Bosch and Lucas) but both have the solenoid attached to the body of the starter.

The solenoid performs two functions, one to make the connection between the battery and the motor windings to turn the starter motor and secondly to engage the drive assembly into the flywheel to turn the engine.
Now as you hear a click I'm assuming that the solenoid is trying to throw the drive assembly towards the flywheel but as you cannot hear the starter motor itself turning then we can narrow it down to a few things

- Firstly as you have tried a jump start and another battery we can assume it's not that (unless both batteries are dead)
- have you checked all the massa connections, battery to body and body to engine ?
- have you checked the main positive connection on the starter motor ?
- lastly (usual Health and Safety rules apply) have you tried shorting out the 2 big connections on the starter motor solenoid with a big screwdriver and seeing if the starter itself turns over.
- oh and finally the very technical approach and have you hit the starter motor with a block of wood ?

The solenoid on both types are available separately so if it's the solenoid then you don't have to buy the whole starter.

ik doe het altijd met een hamer
mits je er bij kunt natuurlijk.

maar ik denk ook als je alle draadjes na gekeken heb dan is het waarschijnlijk je start motor.
maar een losse accuklem kan ook verassende effecten hebben .

Ik heb het probleem verholpen. de massa aansluiting van de accu was onvoldoende,
de kabel maakte geen goed contact meer. Ik heb het even los gedraaid en toen even opnieuw kaalgeschuurd, en weer goed vast gezet.

hierna starte de Defender weer als vanouds

kijk dat is goedkoper dan een nieuwe startmotor .

ik had eens met een clio dat de - pool iets losjes zat, ook niet willen starten even een paar slagen met de hand vast en vroemmmm .
