A little while ago there was a catastrophic failure of a members vehicle which was documented here
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=3463 and I detailed the parts list and the instructions for replacing the ketting, There are some prices there too.
Now personally I have never seen a ketting snap in 14 years of Td5 because of failure in the ketting, but I have seen a few that have snapped because of upper cylinder head lubrication problems. I'm impressed that you have thought about it, but the young Padwan has indeed 400+k on the clock of his Discovery and there was zero slack in the ketting that I saw when he did the head.
If you were to tackle such a job then I would certainly look for someone with practical experience in the Td5 and not just servicing. There are very few people with this. Oh and it's a bugger of a job as you have to remove almost everything and putting it back is no picnic either. You do need a number of special tools and you also have to know which engine you have for the correct tensioner etc.
Your biggest problem is going to be getting the crankshaft pulley off, it's put on at 460 Nm

, and that's tight and a bit more. It's even more fun putting it back on
For piece of mind, I would drop the klepdeksel off look at the camshaft and chain and then decide what to do.
