Kunststof tank inbouwen

Berichtdoor JWW » 01 Aug 2012, 12:04

Hallo,

Not really too much of a problem if you have the metal under carrier with it. The main problem is what are you going to do with the massive hole in the top of it ;). Now you can't simply put the Td5 pump and flotter assembly in and expect it to work as a) the pressure is too high for you '86 (unless you have a Td5 in there) b) the flotter will give a different reading to your fuel gauge. c) even with the pump disconnected it will not allow the suck from the normal pump.

So: solution time :)

Flotter: you need the current resistance of your existing flotter empty, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full and the corresponding values of the Td5 unit then work out what sort of resistance you need top match, or alternatively amplify.

Fuel: For the Td5 you have 4 pipes 2 for the high pressure side 2 for the low pressure side, you will only need 2, out and return. I would reccommend using the 2 pipes that go from the tank to the filter as your starting point and use the Genuine pipes which will take you to just in front of the right hand rear wheel arch, then join your existing pipework into these. The other 2 you are going to have to use blanking plugs on the pump head. Internally on the pump you will have to fabricate pipe work so that the in pulls from the middle of the bottom of the tank and the return can just empty direct into the tank.

Couple of things to bear in mind, where does your exhaust currently go and will the tank be in the way, if so you need to be looking at the Td5 rear section also you will need to do a little bit of fabrication to get the carrier to fit the rear cross member.
