Now back in 1999 when H and I got our Td5s one of the things that H requested was central door locking, having 5 young children and dogs it was easier to open all the doors at once and also lock them rather than run round the vehicle while controlling several small bodies at the same time.
Obviously then it was not available, so when she got home with the 110 I was given the task to create it, and it had to work from the factory supplied alarm key fob.
So 3 prototypes later, I produced a system that worked on all 5 doors, did not look like it was an aftermarket fitment and worked from the key fob, what I did learn from that exercise was that the rear door required lateral thinking and that Land Rover produced several versions of the Lucas 10AS unit that were either central door locking enabled or not and that a non-enabled unit could not be programmed to an enabled unit but that an enabled unit could have the central door locking function switched off.
So as your vehicle does not have central door locking then it will be fitted with YWC500660, and if it had central locking it would have been fitted with YWC500640.
I'll save you a bit of time and tell you that without the correct unit, matched to the EMS, it won't work, and you cannot swap a CDL unit for a non CDL unit either.
