Simple answer really, up to 1985 used the small swivel pins in the fusee housing and from 1992 onwards they used the larger sized swivel pins in the fusee as these were designed to house the ABS sensor which ran down inside the pin itself to pick up the exciter ring on the end of the homokenetische, the non ABS vehicles had the same size swivel pin but the ABS sensor hole was not present.
So small thin top swivel pin is pre 1985, big fat swivel pin is 1992 onwards and between 1986 and 1992 they used either the fat ones if it was ABS or the thin ones if it was non ABS.
