... the Disco 4 3.0 Tdv6 is basically the same vehicle as the 2.7 Tdv6 so all of the comments that have been made on the Forum about that still apply.
The main change obviously is the engine which is now a one and a half turbo (not twin turbo as everyone thinks) and if you are looking at a 2012 Model Year or later then the 8 speed ZF 80HP70 gearbox.
On the engine side then the early ones, 2010 and 2011, had issues with the secondary turbo recirculation valve sticking and the turbo drain pipe chucking oil back through the inlet trajectory, both of which had bulletins issued. However that said they do appear to be quite reliable. The injection pump on the 3.0Tdv6 is timed to the camshaft which makes changing the belt somewhat challenging and not something that the average DIYer should be thinking about doing, infact it's a bloody nightmare with all the tools in a fully kitted out Dealership.
The 8 speed gearbox is a big improvement over the 2.7 6 speed ZF 6HP26 Steptronic or the later ZF 6HP28. Again there were some issues with the early ones and their knobs not rising out of the floor but a software update seems to have cured that one.
